Japan revised the maximum limit of lead in some food products

On October 18, 2023, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan (MHLW) issued the Announcement 1018 No. 6, which revised the maximum limit standard of lead in two types of cool drinks (specifically drinking mineral water that is made of water and has not been sterilized or sterilized, and drinking mineral water that has been sterilized or sterilized) from 0.05mg/L to 0.01mg/L.

 

The announcement will be implemented from the date of publication, with a transition period of six months.
