On June 11, 2024, Health Canada and the Food Inspection Agency approved EH913, a genetically modified (GM) corn developed by Helix Seeds and Seedlings of the United Kingdom, for use in food, feed and farming.
The transgenic maize contains the cry1Da_7 gene from Bacillus thuringiensis and the pat gene from a green strain of Streptomyces sp. It is both glufosinate-tolerant and lepidopteran-resistant. The transgenic corn is currently approved for food and feed use in Brazil.
