From SeafoodMedia, June 26 - Israeli food tech startup Forsea Foods is building ties with Japan, the largest consumer of eel, in hopes of launching its first commercial product by 2026.
Forsea Foods plans to market its cell-based eel to the Japanese market as well as Asia-Pacific markets including China and Hong Kong.
Forsea hosted a tasting event at a Japanese restaurant in Tel Aviv to showcase its cell-cultured freshwater eel.
The company is currently raising funds to launch a commercial pilot plant in the Asia-Pacific region.
Forsea's main target market in the Asia-Pacific region is Japan, with an eye on China, Singapore and South Korea as well.
Founded in late 2021, Forsea currently has a team of 16 people, one in Japan and others in Israel.
