According to the U.S. "Fortune" magazine on the 12th, citing the analysis of Bloomberg reported that the U.S. Wal-Mart and other large supermarkets selling an over-the-counter expectorant cough medicine Mucinex may contain carcinogenic substance benzene.
It is reported that the drug is categorized into two types: brand-name drugs and generic models sold in supermarkets. Although both have the same potency, the generic version uses an inactive ingredient that may contain benzene.
The data was analyzed and millions of consumers may have unknowingly purchased drugs containing benzene. Benzene is a known potent carcinogen and is strongly associated with the development of blood cancers such as leukemia and lymphoma.
