According to SeafoodMedia on August 13, in July, South Korea imported 3,175 tons of U.S. seafood, an increase of 21% year-on-year, and accumulated imports of 21,308 tons in the first seven months, compared with 223,443 tons in the same period in 2023, a decrease of 9%.
Currently, U.S. seafood accounts for 4% of South Korea's total seafood imports of 511,277 tons.
The number of frozen salmon imported by South Korea from the United States increased from zero tons last year to 2,903 tons, the number of frozen mackerel increased from 1,084 tons last year to 2,455 tons, an increase of 126%, and the import of frozen skate increased from 1,796 tons last year to 2,215 tons, an increase of 23%.
imports of frozen yellowfin sole were 2,353 tons, down 47% year on year, and the number of frozen cod was reduced to 1,299 tons, down 32% year on year.
