According to Thai media reports, the director of the Thai Fisheries Department Bancha revealed on September 2 that after several negotiations and consultations, on August 23, 2024, the General Administration of Customs of China officially approved the export of live Thai rawns to China. Thailand's export markets such as live rawns have been further expanded, opening a new chapter for Thai aquatic products to enter the Chinese market.

A total of 28 Thai aquaculture farms and 7 aquatic packaging enterprises were allowed to export this time, and these enterprises passed the strict review of the Chinese customs and obtained access.

Bancha said that rawns, as an important freshwater economic species in Thailand, have been loved by consumers. The successful development of the Chinese market will help further expand the export volume of Thailand's Roche shrimp, bring more economic income to the country, and promote the sustainable development of Thailand's economy.

As early as 2023, the Thai Ministry of Agriculture has seen great potential for the export of live Rockwell shrimp. According to statistics, in 2023, a total of 12,127 aquaculture farms in Thailand produced Rockwell shrimp, with a total output of 46,585 tons, creating a total output of more than 8,659 million baht, of which 4,711 tons of Rockwell shrimp were exported to various countries, generating an income of 568 million baht. It is expected that in the future, the global market demand for Thai Roche shrimp will continue to grow, especially driven by China, an important trading partner, the export potential of Thai Roche shrimp is huge.
