GACC Announcement No. 136 of 2024 (Announcement on Phytosanitary Requirements for the Importation of Peanuts and Sesame Seeds from Chad)

On September 24, 2024, the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) issued Announcement No. 136 of 2024, announcing that with immediate effect, the import of peanuts and sesame seeds from Chad that meet the relevant requirements is permitted.

 

Peanuts (Arachis hypogaea L.) and sesame seeds (Sesamum indicum L.) in this announcement refer to non-seeded hulled peanuts and sesame seeds grown and processed in the Republic of Chad for food or processing purposes.

 

Exporters and warehousing enterprises exporting peanuts to China shall be registered by the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as the Chinese side). The Ministry of Trade and Industry of the Republic of Chad (hereinafter referred to as the Chadian side) shall recommend in advance to the Chinese side enterprises that meet the requirements. The Chinese side shall be registered after inspection or examination, and will publish the list of relevant enterprises on the website of the General Administration of Customs of China.

 

Enterprises producing, processing and storing sesame seeds for export to China shall be registered by the Chinese side. The Chadian side shall recommend in advance to the Chinese side enterprises that meet the requirements. They shall be registered after inspection or examination by the Chinese side, and the list of relevant enterprises will be published on the website of the General Administration of Customs of China.

 

At the same time, the announcement also lists in detail the import needs to meet the relevant requirements, including production requirements, packaging and transportation requirements, inspection and quarantine certificate requirements.
