India revised import requirements for Australian fresh citrus and blueberries

On October 14, 2024, the Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) issued Notification 2024-67 stating that India has revised its import requirements for Australian fresh citrus and blueberries.


According to the notification, citrus exported to India can now undergo pre-shipment (onshore) cold treatment.


The Mediterranean fruit fly (Ceratitis capitata) has been listed as a pest of blueberry fruit in India.


To deal with the Mediterranean fruit fly on blueberries destined for India,the Indian Department of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare (DAFW) has added the following requirements: Pre-shipment cold treatment; Cold treatment and fumigation schedule during transportation.
