Australia approves D-allulose as novel food

On October 28, 2024, Notice F2024L01377 was published on the website of the Commonwealth of Australia Gazette, amending the standards in the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code by approving the use of D-allulose as a Novel Food in some food products with effect from the date of publication.

  

Main contents: Regulations permitting the addition of D-allulose as an ingredient and the maximum amount of D-allulose added to some food products: bakery products (10%), bubble gum (50%), chewing gum (50%), breakfast cereals (5%), confectionery (but excluding chocolate) (5%), desserts (with or without gelatine) (10%), ice cream (5%), edible ices (5%), non-alcoholic water-based flavored beverages (3.5%), yogurt (3.5%), and non-alcoholic water-based flavored beverages (3.5%). 3.5%), yogurt (5%), etc.
