On November 17, 2024, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a notice of investigation of an E. coli outbreak associated with organic carrots.
The outbreak is known to have resulted in 39 E. coli infections in 18 states, 15 people have been hospitalized, and one person has died. Interviews with patients and tracebacks indicate that bagged organic carrots sold by Grimmway Farms may have been contaminated with E. coli, which made people sick.
Several brands and sizes of bagged organic carrots are currently being recalled. The investigation is ongoing and CDC will keep you updated.
