Nicaragua plans to set drinking water standards

On November 20, 2024, the Nicaraguan Ministry of Health issued a draft mandatory standard for drinking Water quality (NTON 03004), with a comment period ending January 15, 2025. The main contents include:

 

(1) The standard applies to water used in production and food processing for human consumption, regardless of its collection source, type of treatment and water supply system;

 

(2) Establish maximum limits for physical, chemical and microbiological items of drinking water, as well as risk management assessment criteria from the source of supply to the user, in order to prevent pollution and protect people's health, some limits are detailed in the table below.
