US CDC investigates listeria outbreaks associated with ready-to-eat meat and poultry products

On November 22, 2024, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a notice of investigation of a Listeria outbreak associated with ready-to-eat meat and poultry products.

 

The outbreak is known to have infected 11 people in four states with Listeria, nine people have been hospitalized and one infant has died in California. Interviews with patients and lab results show that Yu Shang Food, Inc. Ready-to-eat meat and poultry products produced can be contaminated with listeria bacteria, which can make people sick.

 

The affected products are currently being recalled, including pig trotters, chicken feet, pig feet, duck necks, beef tendons and pig tongues. The investigation is ongoing, and the CDC will update relevant information in a timely manner.
