On 21 November 2024, the Turkish Official Gazette published the Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency (TMDA) Circular No. 32729, which establishes regulations for market control of products and foodstuffs for special medical purposes, with effect from the date of the Circular. The main contents include:

(1) Definition of food products for special medical purposes is provided and the regulation aims to ensure that the relevant products have the required effect, safety and quality;

(2) Market control of relevant products shall assess factors such as product effectiveness, safety and quality, GMP compliance level of manufacturers, relevant alerts and usage data, and shall determine matters such as product placement on the market, control plans, sampling and testing based on the assessment results.
