Mongolia established two dairy standards

On 22 November 2024, the Mongolian Bureau of Technical Standards (BTS) established two dairy standards, namely the Standard for Fermented Milk (MNS 4229:2024) and the Standard for Drinking Milk (MNS 0219:2024), with a feedback period ending on 30 December 2024.

Main contents:


- Product classification and its terms and definitions;


- General product requirements (e.g. no additives, dyes, flavours or non-dairy sources of fat in children's drinking milk) and specific physical and chemical indicators;


- Hygiene standards, packaging, transport (prohibit the mixing of products and toxic by irritating odours, flammable and explosive substances), storage (such as fermented milk from the date of production shall not exceed 5 days of preservation, other types of fermented milk shall not exceed 7 days; sterilized, very high temperature sterilized milk for drinking purposes shall not be stored for more than 6 months, etc.);


- Testing standards, etc.
