On December 13, 2024, the Netherlands published document 2024/0678/NL proposing rules for prophylactic allergen labeling of food. Feedback period of March 17, 2025 for comments. Main contents:
(1) Definition of prophylactic allergen labeling;
(2) Conditions for the use of precautionary allergen labeling: subject to risk assessment by the enterprise and the presence of allergens in the food that exceed the specified reference values (e.g., the reference value of total protein for eggs is 2 mg, the total protein of lupines is 15 mg, etc.), or the presence of cross-contamination of one or more allergens; the use of precautionary allergen labeling can be used as follows: “may contain xxx “ or “Not suitable for xxx”.
