The Russian Agroexport Center told SPUTNIk news agency that Russia's supply of frozen cod to China increased by 18 percent in the first 11 months of 2024.
In the first 11 months of 2024, China imported about 90,000 tons of frozen cod from Russia, worth more than $368 million.
Russia has become the main importer of frozen cod from China, with the United States ranking second with 23,000 tons and Norway third with 12,500 tons.
Cod is one of the most important commercial fish, and reasons for its popularity include its liver, it is a source of fish oil, and it is also a raw material for the production of popular canned foods.
On June 24, the Russian Center for Export Development of Agricultural Products told the Russian satellite news agency that the bilateral trade volume of agricultural products, raw materials and food products between Russia and China increased by 33.9% to $11.1 billion (9.4 million tons) in 2023. China's exports of agricultural products, raw materials and food products to Russia increased by 5.8% to $2.3 billion (1.2 million tons). Russian agricultural exports to China have increased 1.7 times in six years.
