On December 31, 2024, Mexico issued a presidential decree stating that it will be exempt from import tariffs in 2025, including on wheat and flour.
Mexican wheat imports are expected to reach a record 5.8 million tons in 2024/25, up from 5.29 million tons the previous year, according to USDA data.
Mexican wheat production in 2024/25 is estimated at 2.6 million tons, significantly lower than the previous year's 3.48 million tons and the lowest since 1980/81.
