On January 7, 2025, the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) issued Announcement No. 4 of 2025, announcing that with immediate effect, the import of Spanish breeding birds and breeding eggs that meet the relevant requirements is permitted.
Breeding birds and breeding eggs refer to birds for breeding and farming purposes and their eggs for hatching purposes.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food of the Kingdom of Spain implements quarantine on imported breeding birds and eggs to China on the basis of the “Quarantine Permit for imported Animals and Plants of the People's Republic of China” issued by the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China. Each quarantine permit only allows the importation of one batch of breeding poultry or breeding eggs from Spain.
At the same time, the announcement also lists in detail the relevant requirements that need to be met for importation, including disease monitoring requirements, pre-export quarantine requirements, packaging and transportation requirements, and so on.
