Ukraine released Food Safety Report for 2024

On January 7, 2025, the State Food and Consumer Service of Ukraine released its annual report for 2024, which reads as follows:

  

(1) Successfully eliminated 49 animal rabies outbreaks, 16 African swine fever outbreaks, and one avian influenza outbreak;

  

(2) Proactively implemented about 400 unscheduled activities, destroying a total of more than 69.9 tons of food products with food safety risks;

  

(3) Conducted 13 sanitary epidemiologic investigations on cases of botulism, acute gastrointestinal colitis, and mushroom poisoning;

  

(4) More than 520 cases of violation of IFRS 12 “Phytosanitary Certificates” were substantiated;

  

(5) Exit phytosanitary quantities exceeded 3,048,860, with a total weight of about 58,135 tons, and more than 5,535 phytosanitary certificates were issued;

  

(6) Identified and documented more than 112,730 hectares of harmful and controlled pests.
