South Korea issued a partial revision of the Codex for Healthy Functional Foods to expand the scope of raw materials for protein

On September 15, the South Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) issued Notice No. 2022-69 to revise part of the Codex for Functional Health Foods. The main contents are as follows:

 

1. Expanded the scope of protein raw materials to include all food raw materials that can supplement protein.

 

2. Increased the functional content of ginseng: It is good for liver.

 

3. Remove aloe vera leaves from the list of functional ingredients.

 

4. Formulated production standards for ginkgo biloba extract.

 

5. Set new specifications for total fatty acids and phytosterols.

 

6. Modified test methods, etc.
