On September 9, 2022, Paraguay's National Institute of Food and Nutrition issued a consultation document to revise food additive regulations and low-sodium bottled water regulations. The feedback period is 60 days from the date of publication. The main revisions are as follows:

(1) Increase the use of carmine, coper chlorophylline, propylene glycol alginate;

(2) Definition of low-sodium bottled water. When the sodium content is less than or equal to 20mg/ L, it belongs to low-sodium water;

(3) Labeling requirements for low-sodium bottled water. Low-sodium bottled water must comply with current regulations on the labeling of packaged foods, and nutritional information is not allowed on labels; Products meeting the definition of low-sodium water might declare "low sodium content" or "low sodium" and must declare sodium content, expressed in mg/ L.
