New Zealand's Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI) recently called for comments on proposed changes to the imported Health Standards (IHS) for egg products.

The amended import health standard (IHS):

Discusses risk mitigation measures for Angara disease, high pathogenicity avian influenza, and Newcastle disease and proposes changes which are in line with recommendations in the World Organisation for Animal Health Terrestrial Animal Health Code;

Amends the requirements for commodities with more than 5% but less than 21% egg;

Removes shelf-stable processed egg product that are either covered under other import health standards or are more aligned with the commodities under other standards.

The time for soliciting opinions is from December 13, 2022 to February 20, 2023.
