Pork

Brazilian pork exports rose 17.8% in November. According to the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA), Brazil's exports of pork and products totaled 93,400 tons in November, up 17.8% from 79,300 tons a year earlier. Exports rose even more sharply, rising 35.1 percent to $230.5 million from $170.6 million a year earlier.

The cumulative export volume from January to November was 1.017 million tons, a decrease of 2.8% from the 1.047 million tons from January to November 2021. Exports totaled $2.319 billion, down 5.3 percent from $2.449 billion in 2021. In the second half of the year, Brazil exported an average of 101,400 tons per month, exceeding the 95,700 tons in the same period in 2021, which is the best period in the entire history of pork exports. The industry has yet to overcome high production costs as the economy recovers. China is the main destination for Brazilian pork exports, with purchases in November up 95% year-on-year to 42,800 tonnes.

Chicken

In November, Brazil's chicken meat and product exports totaled 375,600 tons, a year-on-year increase of 12.2% (previous year: 334,700 tons). Exports were valued at US$781.3 million, a 29.1% increase from US$605.3 million in the same period in 2021.

From January to November, Brazil's chicken export volume reached 4.436 million tons, an increase of 5.6% over the 4.198 million tons in the same period in 2021. The cumulative export value was 8.976 billion US dollars, an increase of 29.3% from 6.944 billion US dollars in the same period last year.

China is the largest importer of chicken meat from Brazil, with 40,300 tons exported to China in November (1.4% more than in the same period in 2021). In addition, 27,800 tons (+21.9%) were exported to South Africa in November, 24,600 tons (+28.9%) to Saudi Arabia and 18,100 tons (+17.6%) to the EU. Europe, Asia and the Middle East are starting to increase purchases.
