On January 16, 2023, the Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) issued an official communiqué on the amendment to the Australia and New Zealand“Food Standards Code No. 215”.
The main revised standards are:
Schedule 18 Processing Aids
Schedule 26 Foods produced using genetic technology
The applications and proposals for these amendments are as follows:
Application A1219 - Approval of Alpha-Amylase from Genetically Modified Bacillus licheniformis as a Processing Aid
Application A1249 - Approval of the Addition of Phytosterols, Phytostanols or Esters thereof to Vegetable Milk Substitutes
