South Korea intends to revise the use standards of 30 food additives including copper chlorophyll

On January 30, the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) issued Announcement No. 2023-38, intending to amend part of the "Food Additives Code". The main contents are as follows:


1. Newly set the composition specifications and usage standards of 6 additives including 5'-guanylic acid.


2. Modify the use standards of 30 kinds of additives such as copper chlorophyllin: revise the use standards of 3 kinds of foods such as copper chlorophyllin so that they can be used in health functional foods that require shading; revise the use of 8 kinds of additives such as calcium gluconate in special-purpose foods In the standards for the use of 17 kinds of additives such as food coloring green No. 3, "spicing processed products" were changed to "spices and condiments", and the use standards of 2 kinds of additives such as methyl paraben were clearly stipulated.


3. Modify the composition specifications of 5 kinds of additives including modified starch.
