On February 18, 2023, the Australian Biosafety import Conditions Website“BICON”released the import requirements for frozen fruits and vegetables (frozen vegetables include seaweed, excluding potatoes and corn; frozen fruits do not include bananas). Specific requirements are as follows:

(1) It is not necessary to apply for an import license to the Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF);

(2) The product has been suitably frozen;

(3) imported goods must be accompanied by export certificates, freezing declarations, packing lists, supplier declarations, exporter declarations, commercial invoices, beneficiary certificates or manufacturer declarations containing the following information: country of origin, packaging information, processing information, freezing statement, and statement that "the produce has been continuously maintained at -18°C or below for a period of at least seven days";

(4) The product must be commercially produced and packaged with clean and new packaging materials;

(5) The product must be clean and not contaminated with biosafety risk substances such as seeds, soil, animal and plant impurities;

(6) The goods must be frozen when they arrive;

(7) Carry out random inspection and verification of the frozen state of inbound cargo.

The above requirements will come into effect on February 18, 2023.
