On August 8, 2023, the Food and Drug Authority of Thailand issued Proposal No. 2839, which proposes to amend the labeling regulations for pre-packaged foods, for a feedback period ending September 30, 2023. The main contents of the revision are:

1. Cancel the requirement that the main ingredients in the ingredient list on the label of prepackaged food be arranged in descending order according to the amount added;

2. Allow the expiration date (best before date) to be marked with an abbreviation;

3. Revise the labeling requirements of allergens, such as the prefix of "food allergen information" on the label can also be replaced by other synonymous or similar terms, and the allergen information should be marked in a prominent position on the food label.
