On August 10, the General Administration of Customs of China issued Announcement No. 96 of 2023, announcing that from now on, the import of dried chili peppers from Pakistan that meet the relevant requirements will be allowed. Dried chilies in this announcement refer to products made from edible chilies (Capsicum annuum L.) grown in Pakistan and processed by natural drying or other drying processes.
The planting base and processing and packaging enterprises of dried chili exported to China shall be reviewed and filed with the Plant Protection Bureau of the National Food Safety and Research Department of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan (hereinafter referred to as the "Pakistani side"), and approved for registration by the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (hereinafter referred to as the "Chinese side"). Registration information should include name, address and registration number. Before the annual export season, the Pakistani side shall provide the Chinese side with the registration list. After approval by the Chinese side, the Chinese side will publish it on the website of the General Administration of Customs.
At the same time, the announcement also detailed the relevant requirements for imports, including packaging requirements and plant quarantine certificate requirements.
