Australia extends the validity of standard import licences issued by the BioSecurity Animal Service

On 18 August 2023, the Australian Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry issued Notice 171-2023 extending the validity of standard import licences issued by the BioSecurity Animal Service. The main contents are:

 

1. The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry has extended the validity of most standard permits issued by the BioSafety Animal Service. This includes standard licences for laboratory materials of animal origin, animal food intended for human consumption and animal food. These standard licenses are currently valid for two years. The validity period will be extended to five years. The extension will take effect for applications filed on or after August 18, 2023.

 

2. Existing licenses will not be affected and their validity period will remain unchanged.

 

3. The following goods are excluded: salted products; Egg content of more than 10%; Milk content less than 10%; Meat-free products; Farmed fin fish.
