Australia and New Zealand approved the voluntary use of four human milk oligosaccharide components as nutrients in infant formula

On 25 September 2023, Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) issued Notice 263-23, which approved application A1265 to allow the voluntary use of four human milk oligosaccharide components as nutrients in infant formula, either alone or in combination.

 

It is understood that the four ingredients are 2' -fucosyllactose/dicfucosyllactose (2'-FL/DFL) mixture, lactose n-tetrasaccharide, 6' -sialactose sodium salt and 3' -sialactose sodium salt, which are produced by microbial fermentation.
