On October 25, the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) issued Announcement No. 149 of 2023, announcing that from now on, the import of cashew nuts from Laos that meets the relevant requirements will be allowed.
The products that are allowed to be imported are nuts for human consumption made from the ripe fruits of the cashew nut (Anacardium occidentale L.) grown in Laos, which are selected, shelled, dried and other processing processes in Laos.
Lao cashew nut production and processing enterprises should ensure that their cashews exported to China comply with China's food safety and phytosanitary laws and regulations as well as China's national food safety standards. The production, processing and storage units of cashew nuts exported to China are recommended by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Lao People's Democratic Republic and registered by the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China.
At the same time, the announcement also details the relevant requirements for imports, including packaging requirements, plant quarantine requirements, transportation requirements, etc.
