On November 15, the General Administration of Customs of China issued Announcement No. 167 of 2023, announcing that from now on, Colombian frozen beef that meets the relevant requirements will be allowed to be imported.

Colombian frozen beef permitted for import refers to frozen edible boneless beef (cattle slaughtered and bled after removal of hair, internal organs, head and tail and limbs (wrist and joint below) skeletal muscle).

Ground meat, minced meat, ground meat, corner meat, mechanically separated meat and cattle by-products are not allowed to be exported to China. The intestines (duodenum to rectum, including the end of the ileum), thymus, spleen, tonsils, skull including brain, eye, trigeminal ganglion, spinal cord, spine including dorsal root ganglion must be removed.

Production enterprises (including slaughtering, processing and storage enterprises) exporting frozen beef to China should be located in Colombia's non-immune or immune foot-and-mouth disease areas, under the supervision of Colombian authorities, and in compliance with the requirements of Chinese and Colombian veterinary health and public health regulations.

The production enterprises of frozen beef exported to China shall be registered with the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China, and the frozen beef produced by the enterprises approved for registration from the date of registration may be exported to China.

At the same time, the announcement also detailed the import needs to meet the relevant requirements, including inspection and quarantine requirements, packaging and identification requirements, certificate requirements.
