South Korea to revise the quality standard of traditional aquatic food

On November 27, 2023, the Marine Products Quality Control Institute of the South Korea's Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF) issued Announcement No. 2023-111, proposing to revise the "Traditional aquatic Food Quality Standards". The main contents of this revision are:

 

(1) The oyster content in oyster hot sauce is revised from no more than 50% to more than 50%;

 

(2) The maximum moisture content of dried nori was revised from 16% to 13% and that of pickled yellow croaker from 70% to 65%;

 

(3) The peroxide value limit of seasoned nori was revised from 60meq/kg to 40meq/kg;

 

(4) Revision of some aquatic food related terms.

 

The announcement is for comment until December 18, 2023.
