South Korea revised the implementation rules of the Law on Supporting and Promoting Organic Food Management

On December 13, 2023, the website of the National Legal Information Center of Korea issued Order No. 616, revising the implementation rules of the Law on Supporting and Promoting Organic Food Management, which will be implemented on the date of promulgation. Main contents:

 

(1) Certification standards for the production, manufacture, processing or handling of organic agricultural products, which previously required that synthetic pesticide ingredients not be detected, and which, according to the requirements of the Food Hygiene Act, allowed pesticides containing less than 1/20 of the pesticide residue tolerance standard; In addition, the certification standards have also added measures to prevent accidental pollution such as pesticide scattering from traditional farming nearby;

 

(2) In order to improve and supplement some deficiencies in the operation of the current system, the regulation prohibiting the sale of organic agricultural raw materials of the same variety produced on the day the violation occurred was removed.
