On 28 December, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) of Korea issued Announcement No. 2023-614, which proposes to amend some of the contents of the Labeling Standards for Food Products, etc. As follows:

1. In order to prevent misleading consumers, it is clearly stipulated that foods intended for infants and young children in the general food category should be labeled as "Infant Food".

2. Allow the use of raw material names in the product names of mixed cooking oils (similar to blended oils in China).

3. The font size of the calorie label for alcohol should be enlarged and bolded to facilitate consumers' ///confirm/i/i/iation.

4. When emphasizing sugar-free, no added sugar, etc., both "sweetener" and "calorie-related information" should be displayed.

The consultation period ends on 26 February 2024 for the above comments.
