EAEU to amend technical regulations on the safety of poultry meat and products

On 26 January 2024, the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) published a consultation document on the proposed revision of the technical regulation on the safety of poultry meat and poultry meat products, with a deadline of 19 April 2024 for comments. Main contents:

 

(1) Classification of poultry meat products into meat and vegetable-containing meat based on the level of meat content; revision of the definitions of canned poultry for children and canned poultry; meat products containing more than 60 per cent meat and canned poultry for children containing more than 40 per cent meat;

 

(2) Addition of new canned vegetable products containing poultry meat, canned poultry meat baby food containing 18%-40% meat, canned vegetables containing meat with 5-18% meat content; meat and vegetable products containing 30%-60% meat, etc;

 

(3) Poultry meat product labelling. Poultry meat product type name (broth, cooking products, etc.), product information on the type of poultry (from chicken, from a variety of poultry meat marked "from poultry meat"), product classification information (containing meat, containing vegetables and meat); in the label indicates that contains a variety of meat ingredients in accordance with the content of the descending order to indicate the production of all types of use Poultry name; semi-finished products must be labelled as boned or chilled or frozen; canned products must be labelled with the method of sterilisation, etc.
