Korea clarified regulations related to change of import use permit

On 6 February, South Korea issued Law No. 20245, amending parts of the“Special Act on imported Food Safety Management”.

 

The main contents of this amendment include: among the operators who have obtained licences or registered or declared under Korea's Food Sanitation Act, Health Functional Foods Act, and Livestock Products Sanitation Control Act, the scope of operators with permission for change of use shall be deemed to be the same as the scope of operators registered in the business register; operators stipulated in the Presidential Decree may also apply for permission for change of use for sales for purposes different from those declared in the import declaration The Presidential Decree also stipulates that operators may apply for a change of use permit to sell raw materials for purposes different from those declared in the import declaration.

 

The above amendments will come into effect on 7 August 2024, and the Presidential Decree stipulates that a businessman may also apply for a change of use permit to sell raw materials for foreign exchange.
