Fanpage reported that the Italian Ministry of Health has issued a document stating that it is recalling some products produced and sold by Torrefazione Lucchese del caffè, a company located in the province of Lucca in the Tuscany region, due to excessive levels of ochratoxin A in the Arte delle Specialità brand of Arabica coffee powder. The specific information is as follows:
-Arte delle Specialità brand Arabica Coffee Powder, 250g cans, production batch LG 24T, shelf life until October 2025.
Ochratoxin is a fungal toxin commonly found in coffee, cereals, dried fruits, alcohol and other foods. It is highly carcinogenic and excessive intake can cause kidney disease, posing a great threat to human and animal health.
The Italian Ministry of Health reminds consumers who have purchased the above products not to consume them and to return them to the point of sale.
