New Zealand amended exported food products exempt from domestic compositional requirements

On 28 February 2024, the Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI) of New Zealand issued Notice 19 amending the “Food for Export - Exemptions from Domestic Compositional Requirements”. The amendment mainly adds the following new section (see the yellow marked section in Schedule 2): Infant formulae exported to China are exempted from the following requirements:

 

(1) The maximum permitted amount of 2-fucosyllactose (2'-fucosyllactose) is 2.4 g/L (in ready-to-eat state);

 

(2) The maximum permitted amount of Galacto oligosaccharide is 64.5 g/kg;

 

(3) The maximum permitted level of Lacto-N-neotetraose is 0.6 g/L (in the ready-to-eat state).

 

The amendment is effective from the date of publication.
