On March 12, 2024, according to the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, the Council of Ministers approved changes to the conditions for the use of the words "dry" and "paledry" on liqueur labels. The main contents are as follows:

(1) Revoke Royal Decree 1363/2011 on the use of "dry" only for liqueur with protected designation of origin (DOP) and with a sugar content not exceeding 45g/L;

(2) The maximum sugar content range of light dry wine is expanded from no more than 45g/L to less than 50g/L;

(3) From now on, the term "dry" may be used for any dry wine as defined in the Implementing Regulation of the European Union, and for other regulations made for that purpose.
