Polish media reported on March 20 that the Polish government and protesting farmers reached an agreement, including the temporary closure of the border with Ukraine to prohibit the transit of Ukrainian grain.

The agreement was signed by Polish Agriculture Minister Czeslaw Sikielski, State Secretary Mihau Kowozierczak and representatives of the protesting farmers.

The agreement provides for the retention of the current embargo on Ukrainian agricultural products, which has been in force since mid-September 2023 and applies to Ukrainian wheat, maize, wheat flour, rapeseed and sunflower seeds.

According to the agreement, the Polish Minister of Agriculture will request the government to suspend the transit of certain products through Polish territory from April 1, 2024.
