From SeafoodNews, 29 March - Russia and China plan to switch to an electronic system for issuing certificates of origin for exports of aquatic living resources by the end of 2024.

The two countries have long cooperated in the fight against illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, an effort that is important for preventing large-scale industrial poaching, and China is a major consumer of Russian fish products, including crabs, while Russia is one of the world's largest fish exporters.

During the 32nd session of the Russian-Chinese Joint Commission on Cooperation in the Field of Fisheries, Russian experts China demonstrated the functionality of the system being developed, as well as the process of issuing and validating electronic certificates.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed the transition to electronic fishing logbook (EFL) software, which is used to submit information on catches in Russia's exclusive economic zone (EEZ), and the submission of ship daily reports (SDRs) by Chinese vessels via e-mail, with fishermen switching to ERRs in Chinese in the future.
