Japan revised inspection methods for genetically modified foods without safety examination

On 28 March 2024, Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) issued announcement, which will adopt the revised "Inspection Methods for Genetically Modified Foods without Safety Examination" for GM testing of imported foods.

 

The contents related to China are collated as follows: the test items for processed rice products (such as rice flour and other products made from rice without or with a low degree of heating): 63Bt, NNBt, CpTI; and the test items for papaya and its processed products (limited to those products from which the papaya parts can be separated) are PRSV-YK and PRSV-HN.
