Philippines to set standards for chilled and frozen scallops

On April 3, 2024, the Philippine Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards issued a consultation document to develop standards for chilled and frozen scallops with a 60-day feedback period. Main contents:

 

(1) Scope and definition;

 

(2) Basic ingredients and quality factors. Do not add water, phosphate and other ingredients; The maximum amount of ice coating for frozen scallops should be 10% of the product weight; The limits of biotoxins in scallops are shown in the table below.

 

(3) Packaging and labeling. Product name; Brand name or trademark; Net content; The name and address of the manufacturer, repacker, distributor and importer; Batch; Storage conditions; Validity period; Allergen information; Ingredient list; Instructions for use; Nutrient composition;

 

(4) Sampling and sensory examination methods.
