On April 17, 2024, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) published Notice 2024.EN-8738 updating the EU Pesticide Residue Processing Factor Database. The EU Pesticide Residue Processing Factor Database was created in 2018, first updated in 2022, and is now in its second update. The extended version contains 2,651 studies, 17,937 individual process factors and 4,229 median process factors, all evaluated against the latest residue definitions and storage stability information.

The above studies relate to MRL setting procedures, active substance approvals that have been made available to EFSA during the update period or to Member States in the framework of other regulatory procedures; all studies have been comprehensively (re)assessed in terms of the derivation of the processing factors according to a set of well-established quality criteria that have been applied in the EU database. In addition, the document describes other representative processes such as the baking of apples, the production of apple slices, the canning of sweet corn, the production of couscous and some other cooking processes. All supporting documents have been updated.
