Ukraine revised safety and quality requirements for milk and dairy products

On May 29, 2024, the Ministry of Agricultural Policy and Food of Ukraine revised the safety and quality requirements for milk and dairy products, which will be implemented from the date of publication. Main contents:

 

(1) Scope of application, including: all producers in the production, processing and distribution of dairy products; does not apply to homemade dairy products, small-scale producers;

 

(2) Production of dairy products enterprises need to obtain a production license;

 

(3) Dairy product producers test dairy products for antibiotics at least once a month, and the test results shall not exceed the maximum residue level specified; increase the method of determining the coagulation point of cow's milk ; the testing method of antibiotics shall be verified by a reference laboratory authorized by the competent authority; raw milk is inspected once a month for the number of somatic cells, and the standard for the number of somatic cells: goat's milk should not be more than 250,000 cells/ml;

 

(4) Packaged milk uses a two-dimensional code showing: the name of the producing farm, the national registration number or the license to operate, the physical address, the telephone number and the e-mail address; and marking: raw milk, boiled before use, stored in a place protected from light at temperatures between 0°C and 6°C.
