Codex Alimentarius Commission published sampling plan and standard for methylmercury in fish

On May 18, 2024, the Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC) published the Sampling Plan and Standard for Methylmercury in Fish, which includes definitions of relevant terms, methods for sampling by lot, expanded sampling methods, packaging and transport of samples, sample sealing and labeling, precautions taken in sample preparation, grinding methods for uniform distribution of samples, methods for sample testing and analysis, and fish batch/small batch processing, etc. The following table shows the criteria for the detection of methylmercury and total mercury in fish:
