FSANZ approved Subtilisin from genetically modified Bacillus subtilis as processing aid

According to the Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ), on June 19, 2024, FSANZ issued Notice 294-24, in which it approved application A1282 to allow the use of Subtilisin from the genetically modified Bacillus subtilis as a processing aid.

 

According to the notice, the intended use of the Subtilisin is for protein processing. Typical processes where the Subtilisin may be used include baking, dairy, egg, meat and fish processing.
