MERCOSUR proposed to revise food additives regulations

On July 8, 2024, MERCOSUR issued Consultation document 03/24, which proposes to revise GMC Resolutions 09/06 and 63/18 on food additives, with a consultation period until September 6, 2024. The main revisions include:

 

(1) Add rosemary extract (INS 392) as an antioxidant for use in meat and meat products such as fresh cured meats, dried sausages, canned meats and dehydrated meat products, at a limit of 0.015g/100g;

 

(2) Add jagua (genipina-glicina) (INS 183) as a coloring agent for ready-to-eat non-alcoholic beverages, with a limit of 0.04g/100ml.
