On July 19, 2024, the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food announced that it intends to hold a public hearing on the revision of the quality standard for honey from July 22, 2024 to August 9, 2024. Main contents:

(1) The new standard requires the packaging to indicate a list of honey harvesting countries and indicate their percentage in the mixture in the main field of the label;

(2) The "filtered honey" variety is deleted, and honey that has had most of the pollen removed is considered "industrial honey" and cannot be sold directly to the end consumer.
